The Student Experience "I relocated to Bournemouth to study social work here and throughout my time at university I have met some great people through the course who have been a great support and - most of all - good friends. Bournemouth is a great place for young people to live because of the beach, the shops and varied nightlife. The learning on the course and gaining experience on my summer vacation in America working with children and young people has prepared me for my current placement in a social services Children and Families team". Natalie. Year 3 Social Work student |
The course team work closely with service user and carer groups to provide opportunities for learning about the real life experience of people who access social work services. Service users and carers are involved in admissions, and in the design, delivery and assessment of the curriculum.
E-learning is an important aspect of the course, as computer skills are increasingly important in the workplace and for accessing published material, and after tuition or support for computer skills you will be able to participate in a range of e-learning activities, for example discussion forums, in addition to face to face learning activities.

The Student Experience "I am an international student from Japan studying on the BA Social Work course. The subject has been fascinating, enabling me to see a person's life from psychological, sociological, legal and political aspects. The placements have been a very interesting experience and were a huge learning curve for me, as being an international student I didn't have detailed knowlege of the welfare system in the UK. I have found this course challenging but the support from the course team and other students and placement colleagues has given me confidence and helped my personal and professional development". Ayako, Year 3 student |
Members of the course team are actively involved in writing and research which contributes to the dynamic learning experience.
