Becoming a Health & Social Care Professional
The School of Health & Social Care (HSC) plays an essential role within the health and social care communities in the South West. These established links with service providers are an essential ingredient of our comprehensive course portfolio. Our objective is to facilitate educational and professional development to enable you to shape and deliver services in a rapidly changing context. We offer an exciting range of rewarding undergraduate (pre–registration) courses in health and social care topics. Many of which, in addition to gaining an academic award, enable you to gain the professional registration you will need to enter your chosen area of employment. Your time will usually be split 50/50 between teaching and practical placements in a variety of settings. In addition to passionate and enthusiastic teaching staff, hands–on experience is crucial to success. Foundation degrees (FdA/FdSc) are aimed at students of any age who do not meet the normal entry criteria for our undergraduate courses (BA/BSc). A foundation degree is equivalent to the first two years of a full time undergraduate degree. Previous work and life experience will be taken into account as well as existing qualifications.
