Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & ExhibitionsThe MICE Research Unit was established at Bournemouth University with funding provided by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board (LCCIEB). The LCCIEB is one of the world's leading providers of business related vocational qualifications. For more information on London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board please visit www.lccieb.com. Due to the fragmentary nature of research into an industry that is primarily based around the membership of various individual associations, the MICE Research Unit (MRU) was founded in order to apply academic standards, clarity and consistency to the research of MICE activities. By focusing initially on London and Bournemouth, the primary objectives of the Unit were to independently provide research and information on the industry and to facilitate the dissemination of that information through the website and the MRU update. The website, which has now been absorbed by the International Centre for Tourism & Hospitality Research, was constructed with the core aim of providing a comprehensive starting point for anyone interested in finding out more about the Meetings, Conferences & Exhibitions Industry. Research undertaken by the MICE Research Unit into the London Conference Market and the growth and trends of conference centres in the UK are available. Drawing from a range of sources (including a range of international tourism databases and the extensive research undertaken by staff and post-graduate students within ICTHR), detailed bibliographies have been constructed. |
