Neal White, Associate Professor of Art and Media.
Director of Emerge for The Media School.
Developing Practice as Research across the Media School, White is an academic and an artist researcher. He contributed four outputs to our successful RAE panel in 2008 - Art and Design - the highest ranked in the University and 7th in this area in the UK according to The Guardian. Working with the group he founded externally to Emerge, the Office of Experiments, his art led research practice is currently centered on the relationship between knowledge and experimentation in contemporary culture. Examining how new areas such as experimental geography, contemporary archaeology and social engagement in art can lead to critical developments in production of resources such as autonomous archives, alternative mapping and a critical cultural discourse, his outputs are as exhibitions, database, resources and as traditional papers. White is currently supervising PhD's and welcomes new enquiries.
