We have online self managed learning materials for all staff and students. Our Virtual Learning environment[VLE] is know as myBU. In myBU there are learning materials for the ECDL. The materials that we use in our workshops are also kept here. Your staff user name and password gives you access. Click on the myBU icon that is on the portal or click on this link myBU.
We have online learning materials for Office 2010 and Office 2007 which can be installed on your work computer or you can install on your home computer. If you want details please email the IT Skills team you can provide you with further information. We have an online typing tutor called "e-type". If you would like access to this package please emails the IT Skills team.
The majority of printers are Ricoh copier/printers. They are all networked and linked via a series of print servers. The servers are called Print7, Print8, Print9 and Print10. Print10 is the print server for students, but staff can use if it they wish. Pull printing, where you can send your output to a virtual print queue, then visit any Ricoh printer, login in manually or with a print card and collect your print. When you login you will find that you have access to some different drives. The H drive is your Home directory, the I drive is a shared directory and depending on your job you will have other drives available. You are unable to write to your C drive by default.
You can access your H drive and your emails from outside the University. In an Internet browser window type the URL for the portal. http://portal.bournemouth.ac.uk
Click the Outlook icon (an envelope) which is in the group of icons on the right side of the screen. There are icons representing your H drive, the I drive, myBU etc.
