Student and Staff Computer Surgeries

IT Services provide computer support for students and staff via "Surgeries". Appointments can be booked to bring in their own problematic computers at the times and locations below.

In order to book an appointment please telephone the IT Services Desk on 01202 965515 or email IT Service Desk - itservicedesk@bournemouth.ac.uk.

Students in halls of residence connecting through ResNet will be able to book any available slot in advance; other university members may only book any available slots the working day before each session. All bookings must be made through the IT Service Desk; all bookings must be made in advance and no same-day support is available.

Reasonable effort in support will be offered in the surgery; if more extensive work is required, either a repeat visit will be arranged, or IT Services may request the computer is left with them in which case the turnaround will be a maximum of three working days.

Computer Surgery Times
Monday 10am - 4pm Laptop Surgery Office, Studland House, Lansdowne Campus
Wednesday 10am - 4pm The Sir Michael Cobham Library, Talbot Campus
Friday 10am - 4pm Laptop Surgery Office, Studland House, Lansdowne Campus

Please complete the Computer Support Form

Attempts to rectify problems will be made during the initial consultation. If more extensive work is required, either a repeat visit will be arranged or IT Services may request the computer is left with them.

IT Services will provide feedback on how to minimise the likelihood of repeat problems. Students and staff can also refer to the Maintenance and Self Help sections in order to improve their PC's performance. Data must be backed up before attending a surgery session and appropriate restore CDs brought to the surgery.

At certain times of year the surgery service may be heavily booked and priority will always be given to ResNet students. All support is offered on a best-effort basis

NB: IT Services have extensive experience of supporting PCs. Experience of Apple Macs is less extensive, but covers connection to the University residential network.
