About Us

Welcome to Bournemouth University Library. The Sir Michael Cobham Library won the SCONUL design award in 2007 and our About our Buildings section provides information about the award, the building and our service enhancements. In the Autumn of 2008 we were host to the SCONUL buildings visit and during the year Librarians from over 50 institutions visited our Library. In 2009 we won the inaugural "Outstanding Library Team" in THE Leadership and Management Awards .

Summer 2009 saw us co-host the SCONUL conference "Picking the Winners".  The conference video was produced by RedBalloon Productions at Bournemouth University in conjunction with The Sir Michael Cobham Library team, using students from MA Producing, Directing and Editing courses.  The team filmed the first two days of the conference, editing overnight and showing the 12 minute film to great acclaim on the morning of the third and final day. A film was also made by Southampton Solent of student "vox pop" comments about library services. The comments gave direction to our enhancement plans for 2009-10.
