About Bournemouth House Library

The Library occupies half of the first floor of the Bournemouth House building on Christchurch Road.

Although not purpose built, it has been developed to provide a variety of learning spaces and access to our print and electronic resources. In June 2009 the Library service was the winner of the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Award for ‘Outstanding Library Team'.

Bournemouth House Library accommodates:

  • 795 metres of shelving
  • 54,000 books, 275 journal titles
  • access to 73,300 e-books, 46,000 e-journals and 30,000 reports
  • wireless networking and 'blue' network points, providing flexible access for students and staff to electronic resources from their personal laptops
  • 1 study room with bookable computers
  • 1 bookable techno booth
  • total number of study places: 178
  • 34 computers equipped with low energy flat screen displays
  • self-service machines providing for over 60% of transactions
  • an Information and Advice service point
  • total floor area 489 square metres
