Database of the world's banks and financial institutions. Gives payment and settlement details, ownership, credit ratings and financials. For other company accounts, go to FAME.

Barbour Environment, Health & Safety

 

Barbour Environment, Health & Safety online service offers full text documentation on legislation, regulations and standards from over 600 information providers, including HSE, Environment Agency and BSI, plus case law and prosecutions from key sources. The University has single user access to this service.

BBC Motion Gallery

 

The BBC Motion Gallery provides access to moving images from the BBC's extensive archive. This JISC negotiated licence permits the staff and students of the licensed institutions to access a vast collection of clips for use in presentations, lectures and coursework.

BestBETs

 

BestBETs is a database of rapid evidence-based answers to real-life clinical questions principally in emergency medicine, using a systematic approach to reviewing the literature. The database also includes a significant number of BETs (=Best Evidence Topics) covering cardiothoracics, nursing, primary care and paediatrics.

Biodiversity Heritage Library

 

The Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL), is a consortium of 12 major natural history museum libraries, botanical libraries, and research institutions organized to digitize, serve, and preserve the legacy literature of biodiversity. The library currently consists of over 37,000 titles in digital format.

Box of Broadcasts [BoB] - Requests for Off-Air Recordings

 

BoB logo
BoB or Box of Broadcasts is a service available to all Bournemouth University members of staff, researchers and students. You need to register first to receive a password. Using BoB you can record TV and radio programmes from Freeview, and request programmes that have been broadcast in the previous seven days. BoB uses an Electronic Programme Guide which means you can schedule requests for programmes up to seven days in advance. BoB is available off-campus. Requested programmes will play in your web browser. BoB is not available outside the United Kingdom [UK]. 
Note: Before using BoB, you must register on the BoB site using your Bournemouth University e-mail address.

 

BoB operates under a specific licence offered in the UK so you must ensure that you comply with the licence terms and conditions.

BRAD (British Rate And Data)

 

BRAD is a comprehensive database of media in the United Kingdom including magazines, newspapers, radio, television, and out of home. BRAD provides information for advertisers including contacts and rates.

Breast Cancer Searchable Information Center

 

Searchable database of publicly available breast cancer information. Includes factsheets, posters and other materials from a number of US government health organistations. With a largely US focus, this resource is fully searchable or can be browsed by categories including: treatment, prevention, risk factors, disparities in health care and clinical trials.

British and Irish Archaeological Bibliography

 

Bibliography of publications covering the archaeology of Great Britain and Ireland. Over 200,000 references to publications published between 1695 and the present day.

The British National Formulary (BNF) provides up-to-date guidance on prescribing, dispensing and administering drugs and medicines. It details medicines prescribed in the UK, with special reference to their uses, cautions, contra-indications, side-effects, dosage and relative costs.

British Pathe

 

The British Pathe Film Archive covers news, sport, social history and entertainment from 1896 to 1970. The database contains 3500 hours of moving image. Access to low resolution review material is free of charge. You are required to complete a registration form.

British Periodicals

British Periodicals traces the development and growth of the periodical press in Britain from its origins in the seventeenth century through to the Victorian 'age of periodicals' and beyond. On completion it will consist of more than 460 periodical runs published from the 1680s to the 1930s, comprising six million keyword-searchable pages and forming an unrivalled record of more than two centuries of British history and culture.

The Burney Collection

 

The newspapers and news pamphlets gathered by the Reverend Charles Burney (1757 - 1817) represent the largest single collection of 17th and 18th century English news media. The 700 or so bound volumes of newspapers and news pamphlets were published mostly in London, however there are also some English provincial, Irish and Scottish papers, and a few examples from the American colonies, Europe and India.
