Arrangement The archive is arranged in boxes containing 21,632 files
Finding Aids The 21,632 files are numbered chronologically on a database. The database lists the contents down to file level, and is searchable by file title, regulator and record series. The files are matched to the number of the box they are in. Access to the archive database is via password.
Access/Reproduction Restrictions If you wish to consult the archive please contact Stephen Parton. Once accredited you will be sent a password to enable access to the archive catalogue. You will then need to select those boxes you wish to consult.
Viewing material is by prior arrangement only.  Up to four boxes of material may be requested for retrieval from the off site store.  Consultation is in the Special Collections room in The Sir Michael Cobham Library. All researchers will be required to sign a disclaimer before viewing material.

Administrative /biographical history

The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) 1972-1990 was the successor to the Independent Television Authority (ITA) 1954-1972. The IBA together with the Cable Authority 1984-1990, became the Independent Television Commission (ITC) in 1990. In 2003 the ITC became part of OFCOM - the Office of Communications.
