When you join the University as a new member of staff, you will receive a university ID card from your School or Support Service Administrator. This card also acts as your Library card. Please sign the card immediately and insert a current passport style photograph.
You must present your ID card at the Help Zone each time you want to borrow any items.
Staff and Research Students may borrow a maximum of 26 books at a time (including a maximum of 6 multimedia items).
Ordinary Loan - identified by white date label inside
6 weeks plus 1 renewal of 6 weeks
If already reserved by someone else, it will be issued for one week only.
Renewals are not permitted if the item has been reserved by another borrower, or if the item is more than one day overdue.
One Week Loan - identified by pink date label inside
One week plus 1 renewal of one week.

Multimedia Loan - Videos, DVDs, CD-ROMS, Audio-tapes.
One week. No renewals.
Extended loans for teaching purposes may be arranged at the Library Help Zone.
Journals and Newspapers: these are not available for loan and may be used only in the Libraries.

These books are not available for loan and may be used only in the Libraries, although special arrangements may be made for staff wishing to use them for teaching purposes.
An early warning alert by e-mail of loan expiry dates 2 days in advance of the date due for return to the Library.
The e-mail includes a link to the My Account section of the Library Catalogue enabling quick access to information about loans with the ability to renew items where conditions allow.
Staff are also alerted by email when items become overdue.
