IntroductionWe work with you to provide resources, services and 1-2-1 help to support your research; enterprise; teaching and administration needs. We keep you up-to-date through our blogs on e-resources, and Library support for research and our podcasts on specific Library facilities and services. For students, we provide Library Inductions, Information Literacy programmes and 1-2-1 subject advice. We also provide access to Reading Lists embedded with each programme unit on myBU. Access our Academic Skills community from the Library tab on myBU, this will help you and you students get the best from our services and resources by exploring the help and guidance we have provided. Library Learning SpacesWe develop our learning spaces each year, aiming to provide a balance between group, social and silent spaces. Our latest additions for 2008/9 are techno booths, located on the Ground Floor of The Sir Michael Cobham Library, purpose-designed for practising presentations. We provide access to PCs, WiFi and data sockets throughout our libraries. Details of the wide rage of facilities can be found here.Tours do not include the silent floors but increasingly podcasts are available. Collections and AccessThe Library's Collection and Access Development Plan articulates the broad themes that guide the acquisition of collections of information resources and access to them, ensuring that, in collaboration with academics, the information resources available support the vision and strategic intent of the University. The Plan also forms the basis of discussion between the Library and Schools for the annual budget cycle. Within this, our investment in e-resources is considerable and has been growing over recent years such that it now accounts for some 70% of all Library resources expenditure and is acknowledged as one of the best e-libraries in the HE sector. eLibraryThe Library tab on myBU and the Library website gives you:

Visiting the Library for the first timeCome to any Library Information desk to register your ID card for self-service borrowing. We will need to add your email address to our records so you can receive your requested items on your desktop and we can send you messages. To borrow items, you will need to use your Staff ID card which also operates as a library card. You may borrow and return items from either campus library ~ all BU staff and students have to pay fines if loans are returned late. For your research, you can also request items from other libraries:
