International Students

As library users, international students may have special concerns and issues, therefore, we try to offer a high level of support. This includes running sessions for the preparatory programmes on offer to International students (BUPEP and International foundation Certificate)

You can direct any questions to the Library coordinator for International students, Stephen Parton. Here are some useful points and recommendations for you to consider:

  • Encourage students to attend Information Skills sessions.
  • International Students can make an appointment with their subject librarian for additional support.
  • Library staff are encouraged to attend training on working with International Students.
  • Point students to our page for International students.
  • Recommend students make use of our Using information Community accessed from the Library tab.
  • If you have a large cohort of international students, tell your subject librarian about this when organising Information Skills sessions. The library subject team can adapt them, if necessary, to suit their needs.
  • The Language for Global Understanding Collection in The Sir Michael Cobham Library includes dictionaries, learning resources for languages and the latest editions of non English magazines and newspapers such as El Pais. (opposite Language Centre on 1st floor)
  • The International Office are on hand to answer non library related queries.
