Skills Communities

Academic Skills Community

The Academic Skills Community is a valuable resource for all BU students which includes materials on topics ranging from academic writing to research skills; and from intellectual property to plagiarism. These resources are presented in a variety of ways to meet the needs of different styles of learning.

Using Information Community

The Using Information Community is a valuable resource for all BU students seeking to enhance their resource discovery and referencing skills.

The Using Information Community incorporates resources designed to help you use information from the Library Tab on myBU and the Library Website. You will find materials created by your Subject Librarians here at BU as well as selected external resources. Browse the material and services available to find ways of developing your skills in using information: investigate a particular skills topic, book a1-2-1 session or follow links to subject-specific information.

Staff and Researchers will find guidance on searching the literature and maintaining current awareness; help using EndNote to manage references; support with publishing; and information about BURO. You'll also find the Research Support blog, which is an excellent way to keep up with new developments.

All BU staff and students are automatically enrolled as members of both the Academic Skills and Using Information Communities. Log on to myBU and access by clicking on the links in the communities list or access via the Library Tab.
