Off-Air Recording Requests - BoB and BUFVCContents:
Student Requests for Off-Air RecordingPlease use BoB for off-air recordings. Staff Requests for Off-Air RecordingPlease use BoB to record programmes off-air. However, if you require a DVD or a downloadable file, please contact IT Service Desk (65515) to make arrangements to record a radio/TV programme for your personal research or teaching use. The Library will no longer add off-air recordings to stock. Please note that only recordings made under the ERA licence are permissible for use as teaching aids. BoB is not available outside the United Kingdom [UK]. BoB operates under a specific licence offered in the UK so you must ensure that you comply with the licence terms and conditions. BoB replaces - and enhances the previous Library Off-air Recording Service. The Library will ensure that two daily news broadcasts on ITV and BBC1 are recorded on BoB. You can access BoB here [ http://bobnational.net/ ] . You have to register to use BoB. To change your password once you register go to the MyBoB section of the BoB website and click on Preferences. BUFVC Off-Air Recording Back-Up ServiceAs a paying institutional member the University will receive 12 request forms for the Missed Recording Service per year. These request forms are for EMERGENCIES only, and are not intended to support an AFTER broadcast request service. If staff or students require off-air material please request it BEFORE broadcast. BUFVC Off-Air Recording Back-Up Service Collection May 1998 - April 2006The University has an agreement with the British Universities Film and Video Council [BUFVC] to hold their Off-Air Recording Back-Up Collection. Currently all UK terrestrial broadcasts, May 1998 - April 2006. Requests for copies from this collection are made using forms available in the Library. These must be completed and returned to the Library together with a blank video/DVD. The turnaround time for requests is currently 10 working days. You will be informed by email when a recording is ready for collection. Finding ProgrammesRequest forms for recordings from the Off-Air Recording Back-Up Collection May 1998 - April 2005 should include the date, time and channel of the programme, The Sir Michael Cobham Library still has copies of the Radio Times for these dates. Alternatively, consult the TRILT: Broadcast Listings which is an excellent reference tool for programmes from 1995. |
