Borrowing - Healthcare LibraryAs a current Bournemouth University HSC student, you may borrow up to 8 items (books and videos) at any one time from the Healthcare Library. You may borrow most books for four weeks (Ordinary Loan), some for two weeks (14 day loans) which have fines when overdue. Four week loans can be renewed twice if not reserved for other readers, two week loans can be renewed once. Videos may be borrowed for one week. When the library is closed, books may be left in the secure book box opposite the Rendezvous Restaurant entrance in the main hospital building. Please do not pass on material you have borrowed to someone else. You are responsible for it until it is returned to the library. Finding helpYou will receive an induction from hospital library staff and may ask for assistance during staffed hours. It is important to attend your timetabled university IT and library sessions, as they are designed to give you the skills to carry out research for your assignments. To complement these sessions, you can arrange subject advice on a one-to-one basis at Bournemouth House Library through your Subject Support Library team. Any enquiries concerning the resources on the Bournemouth University Library web pages should be address to the HSC subject support library team. Alternatively, you can ring Bournemouth University Library Enquiries on (01202) 965959. NHS Athens accountAs a Bournemouth University student on an NHS-related course, each year you will automatically be sent an email enabling you to register for an NHS Athens account. This will allow you to access a collection of library e-resources purchased by the NHS, via the ‘Journals and Databases' section of NHS Evidence. If your activation code has expired or you have forgotten your username or password please contact mfoy@bournemouth.ac.uk . If you have created an NHS Athens Account via your hospital library you should direct all Athens-related queries to that hospital library. Student feedbackAt the Healthcare Library we welcome constructive comments from students. This is possible through using our suggestion box that is available in the library. Bournemouth University Library - Inter Library Loans - booksFinal year pre-registration and post-registration students who are working on projects may request books not held at either the Hospital Library or Bournemouth University Library using the University Library's Inter Library Loan (ILL) service. Please check the catalogues of both libraries to make sure the book is not available (please note, it may be available as an e-book, in which case it will be listed on the University Library Catalogue). For items not held, fill out one Inter Library Loan form for each request and have it countersigned at section A by your tutor. Library staff will send them to the University for processing. Inter Library Loan forms can be obtained from the hospital library staff, or if you cannot get to the hospital library, an online version of the request form is available from the inter library loans information page. The form will need to be printed out and signed at section A and by your tutor. Please note that books requested in this way will need to be collected from and returned to the Bournemouth House Library, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, BH1 3LH . Bournemouth University Library - Inter Library Loans - journal articlesFinal year pre-registration or post-registration students who are working on projects may also request articles found on other databases/sources. Before making a request, check that the journal you require is not available in the Hospital Library or via the University Library's A-Z list of e-journals. If it is not, fill out one Inter Library Loan form for each request and then have your tutor countersign it. Inter Library Loan forms can be obtained from the hospital library staff, or, alternatively, if you cannot get to the hospital library, an online version of the request form is available from the inter library loans information page. It will need to be printed out, signed at section A and by your tutor and posted to the Bournemouth House Library, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, BH1 3LH.
