Fee waiver for Bournemouth University students going on Socrates-Erasmus study exchanges in 2006/2007

The Socrates-Erasmus exchange programme is a great way for Bournemouth University students to experience studying and living in Europe and to get to know a culture and its people at first hand. Students will also gain credits for units taken at the host university, so this year abroad does not add to their studies. Best of all, all Erasmus exchange students are entitled to receive a bursary of €270 per month. They can also apply for one of the University’s travel bursaries.

With the introduction of top-up fees in 2006/2007 we are pleased to inform you that all UK and EU students at Bournemouth University going on a full year study exchange within this programme will be entitled to a fee waiver! This means that they will not have to pay any tuition fees to the University for their year abroad (exception: students going for less than a year will have to pay pro-rata tuition fees to Bournemouth University).

For students from low income backgrounds this could be particularly important. They will keep their grant of £2700 and the £300 from the University and be entitled to a Socrates-Erasmus bursary of €270 per month. They will also be entitled to a higher level of Student Loan.

Students interested to learn more about this exciting scheme and the many other international opportunities that Bournemouth University offers should email the International Exchange Team at studyabroad@bournemouth.ac.uk.
