The BU Student Counselling Service

Counselling Room Counselling Receptionists Counselling Office

The BU Student Counselling Service is available to all full-time and part-time students currently studying at the University.

Counselling is probably a good idea if you feel you are not coping with your feelings or behaviour and you do not have other help available.

  • It is a free service and sessions are offered by appointment.
  • The team consists of seven counsellors and a clinical psychologist, working during normal office hours Monday to Friday.
  • We have a wide range of experience in helping people through a variety of problems from exam anxiety to bereavement, vague worries and unhappiness, to problematic eating habits and drug problems.
  • As well as individual counselling, we sometimes run groups focusing on particular issues.
  • Counsellors are also happy to talk to students distressed by, or worried about, friends, flatmates or family.

Students who have used the counselling have been helped with a vast range of difficulties and distressing experiences.
