PG Cert Research Degree Supervision

The PG Cert Research Degree Supervision provides a developmental journey which integrates a number of dimensions and reflects the changing nature of doctoral study. Participants are expected to be research active and have a level of research competence and awareness. Learning and assessment takes consideration of the students own specialist discipline and allows for the integration of theory to practice. This programme also provides an opportunity to exchange ideas with your colleagues from other Schools and help build BU research culture.

Programme Contents

The PG Cert programme comprises two assessed M_Level units:

• Unit 1: Supervision: Its Regulation, Process and Documentation (20 Credits) aims to provide participants with necessary knowledge about the nature of research degrees together with the external and internal regulatory framework of the research degree process, which seeks to ensure a robust research degree culture.
• Unit 2: The Supervisory Role and its Environment (40 Credits) aims to provide participants with necessary knowledge and skills to undertake sound and successful research degree supervision whilst considering the diversity of students in accordance with the Codes of Practice.
