Once you have decided which PhD studentship project you would like to apply for, you will need to complete and submit an application form (download here (word 208kb)). If applying for more than one project, a separate application form must be completed for each. You must ensure that you:

It is important to note that funding applies only to the advertised fully–funded PhD studentships projects. Any other applications will not be considered. However, details of how to apply for full– and part–time self–funded study can be found on the Graduate School web pages.
Successful applicants will be invited for interview either in person or by video conference.
Candidates for the fully-funded PhD studentship must demonstrate outstanding qualities and be motivated to complete a PhD in 3 years. All candidates must satisfy the University's minimum doctoral entry criteria for studentships of an honours degree at Upper Second Class (2.1) and/or an appropriate Masters degree. An IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 minimum is essential for candidates for whom English is not their first language.
In addition to satisfying basic entry criteria, BU will look closely at the qualities, skills and background of each candidate and what they can bring to their chosen research project.
Although the first call for applications closed on 31 July, late applications may be considered. Some projects have a later closing date and these are stated on the project brief.
