Group Fitness Programme 2009 - 2010
Do you want to be fit and active?
If so, join our fitness programme and take full advantage of the wide range of classes on offer to suit all tastes and fitness levels.
All the Group Fitness classes can be accessed on a pay-as-you-go basis. For BU students & staff the 30 minute Xpress classes only cost £1.80, 45 minute classes cost £2.50 and 55 minute classes are just £3.00. For members of the public prices are as follows, 30 minute classes are £2.00, 45 minute classes are £3.00 and 55 minute classes are £3.50.
If you find yourself going to one or more classes on a weekly basis why not get a membership where classes are included at no extra cost.
Energize membership gives you unlimited access to the Group Fitness classes for the year. Active8 membership gives you unlimited access to the Group Fitness classes as well as unlimited use of the Training Zone Fitness Suite.

Description
Aerobics
An easy level class involving aerobics and body conditioning, followed by floorwork.
Bodysculpt
A high repetition body conditioning class using barbells and dumbells.
Boxercise
An intense circuit class with boxing inspired stations.
Circuits
Involves various stations of resistance and cardio vascular exercises. A fantastic way to increase your all-round fitness levels, with great motivation on hand and the ability to work to your own level.
Hi Lo Aerobics
A fun aerobics session suitable for all levels. High and Lo impact options are available and floorwork to finish.
Legs, Bums and Tums
An easy-to-follow class starting with a blast of aerobics and then exercises that focus on the legs, buttocks
and abdominals.
Pilates
A low impact class that involves a range of exercises designed to improve the body's core stability.
Spinning (Xpress or Endurance)
A high-energy indoor cycling class with a mixture of hills and sprints, where you control the resistance! A great cardio-vascular workout!
Step & Sculpt
A fast, fun and funky step workout designed to burn calories! Upper body conditioning to finish.
Xpress Cardio
An enjoyable and explosive 30 minutes of cardio with a mix of step and circuits.
Xpress Conditioning
30 minute class that targets the whole body.
Xpress Core and Abs
A class that focuses on exercises to work the abdominal area and improve core stability
Yoga
A relaxing class that helps improve flexibility, posture and balance.
20/20/20
A fun filled equal mix of aerobics, body conditioning and abdominal toning.
Useful things to know
- Bring water and a towel to all classes
- Please wear appropriate clothing and trainers to all classes
- Due to limited places, please pre book all Group Fitness classes at sportBu reception
- To book show your Energize or Active8 card at reception or non-member payment is to be made on booking
- Classes can be booked up to seven days in advance
- Receipts and/or membership cards must be shown prior to each class
- Please arrive on time for your class. If you are more than ten minutes late, admission will be refused
- For pay-as-you-go customers, refunds will only be issued when the participant gives more than 24 hours notice to cancel a class
- Please note Aerobics & Spinning timetables change during non-term time. These will be advertised on the website and in BU Sport & Recreation reception.
