Enhancing Research, Enterprise and Professional Practise

BU’s single greatest asset is its staff and their collective output in terms of education, research, enterprise and professional practice will have a major role in developing BU into a more academically led institution for the future.

As a ‘graduate’ of the Releasing Research and Enterprise Potential (RREP) Programme we are pleased to welcome you to the sequel Enhancing Research, Enterprise and Professional Practice Programme. The EREPP Programme builds on the good work that started with the RREP Programme, which was designed to build the confidence and competence of academic staff in engaging in research and enterprise activities. Once again we are pleased to welcome members of the Professoriate and other senior academic staff in supporting us in facilitating the Programme.

EREPP Programme: 2009-2010

The EREPP Programme has been developed in response to feedback from the ‘graduates’ of the RREP Programme. RREP graduates told us that they would like more master-classes, workshops and events on topics such as funding and publication. Many asked for more emphasis to be placed on enterprise activities. In addition a new theme that is being developed for the EREPP Programme is that of Professional Practice

Programme Structure and Content:

Management of the Programme

Overall responsibility for the delivery of the programme during 2009/10 rested with Professor Matthew Bennett, Dean of the School of Conservation Sciences, supported by Colleen Harding (Staff Development Manager). Management was provided by a steering group consisting of Professor Nick Petford (PVC: Research and Enterprise), Professor Matthew Bennett , Colleen Harding and Pam Johnstone (Head of Research Unit, CRE).

Evaluation

Feedback was collected from members of the programme both at the beginning and end of the programme and a report will be submitted to the University Executive Group. In addition the research outputs of cohort members will be tracked using the annual monitoring of research outputs over the next three years.
