Academic Staff Performance Appraisal

Over recent years the academic staff appraisal scheme has been linked with the Standard Academic Staff Profile (C.V.) and the Code of Practice on Balanced Workloads. In order to simplify the documentation and in order to align the academic staff appraisal scheme with the new senior staff performance appraisal scheme, the academic appraisal documentation and guidelines have been revised. In addition, the University’s guidelines on personal and professional development planning have been incorporated into the new performance appraisal schemes.

Please note that in order to provide maximum flexibility for academic staff the events below can be attended individually, or combined on the same day to make a longer workshop
| Setting and Reviewing Academic Appraisal Objectives |
This 2 hour workshop is appropriate for both academic appraisers and appraisees and explores issues around setting strategic appraisal objectives. It will include good practice in cascading objectives; the roles of the appraiser and appraisee in identifying objectives; articulating expectations; making the objectives achievable; and identifying evidence for review purposes |

It will include ways to identify both short-term and long-term development needs; identifying sources of support; and ways to influence the University’s agenda on meeting staff development needs and requirements |
