Induction Event on a sky backdrop

All new staff should attend the New Staff Induction Event. In addition, there are two separate events aimed at specific groups of staff: new academics and those entering into a management position.

New Staff Induction Event


The New Staff Induction is a great opportunity for you to:

  • get to know other new colleagues
  • meet key colleagues from across the University
  • ask Vice-Chancellor Professor John Vinney about the University Leadership Team’s vision for BU
  • discuss plans in the areas of Student Experience and Staff Wellbeing
  • enjoy an induction lunch the Retreat

  • What do the University Leadership Team expect from an academic? 
  • How do your colleagues manage to fit in education, research, enterprise and professional practise? 
  • How does the academic career structure at BU work? 
  • What does ‘Academic Citizenship’ mean at BU?
  • What opportunities are there for personal and professional development?
