What is a Webinar?
A webinar, or web seminar, is an event designed to facilitate communication between a small number of presenters and a large remote audience using the Internet. The webinars provided by CiC are recorded and can be accessed online for up to a month after the event.
How long is a webinar?
Webinars are suitable for shorter sessions. Most CiC webinars are 60 minutes in length. This will include a short introduction, 45 minute presentation, leaving about 10 minutes for Q&A.
How does it work?
- All you need is a stable internet connection and a web browser (JavaScript™ and Java™ enabled) to attend one of our webinars.
- Before the event you will be sent an email invitation with a link to sign up
- Once you sign up you will receive an email with a link and details for attending the webinar
- Most CiC webinars won’t require a microphone but you will need speakers or headphones to hear the presenters. You can also dial-in using your telephone if sound is a problem from your computer
- Slide handouts are usually available 2 or 3 days before the webinar.
- Join the webinar a couple of minutes before the start time. You will be told the seminars is about to begin. This is a good time to check your audio levels or to dial into the event if required.
- During the event you will be invited to participate by sending comments and questions to the panellists and by taking part in polls and activities instigated by the presenters.
- At the end of the presentation (and occasionally during) the moderator will share as many questions with the presenter and audience as time permits
- For up to 30 days after the event the webinar will be available to play again.
