Fusion Seminar and Conference Series 2011-12

The annual Education Enhancement Conference has been replaced with a wider series of internal seminars and conferences relating to the 'Fusion' strategic theme. The programme for 2011-12 was launched with a half day conference in December 2011, followed by monthly seminars, a half day conference in April 2012 and culminates in a half day conference in June 2012. These series of events are hosted by the University Executive Team and provide opportunities to showcase work linked to the new strategic themes and network with colleagues across the institution.

Wednesday 6th June 2012 (12.45 – 4.45pm)
The final event in the 'Fusion' series of internal conferences and seminars for 2011/12 will be taking place on Wednesday 6th June 2012 from 12.45 – 4.45 in Kimmeridge House, Talbot Campus.

The conference entitled 'Sharing Educational Enhancements' is firmly grounded in the Sharing and Inspiring aspect of BU's Vision and Values.  The conference will be hosted by Prof. Tim McIntyre-Bhatty and Jim Andrews and will include contributions from staff on activities undertaken during 2011-12 to enhance the educational experience of students at BU within the context of fusion. The conference will provide examples of initiatives undertaken by Schools as part of the 100-day plan exercise and also showcase work undertaken by staff on the first cohort of the Education Excellence programme to progress educational practice at BU.

The conference is open to all staff contributing to the delivery of programmes and research activities at BU and partner locations.  Bookings are now being taken so please click here to be directed to the online booking facility. The previous conference was oversubscribed, so please book early.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the conference through presentations, posters or demonstrations, please complete the abstract form (word 39kb) and email to 'Fusion Conference' by the 14th May. Any other queries regarding the conference should be directed to Julie Northam or Jennifer Taylor.

Past events in this series included:

The fifth event in the Fusion Seminar and Conference Series was a conference entitled 'Fusion in Action: Knowledge exchange with students, society and the professions' and was hosted by the Vice Chancellor. The conference was firmly grounded in the context of Vision and Values and sought to illustrate fusion at its best.  The conference included contributions from staff and students through a combination of presentations, demonstrations and discussions.  The conference aimed to showcase examples of staff engaged in academic and/or research-led activities associated with the professions and wider society and to identify: how this helps create a unique academic experience for staff and students at BU, how students and staff can share in the learning experience and how such knowledge exchange can foster innovative learning experiences, pedagogic developments and research activities.
