External support and recognition

UK Professional Standards for Teaching

The PG Cert Education Practice is mapped to the UK Professional Standards for Teaching and Supporting Learning in HE. This enables you to achieve Associate Fellowship and Fellowship status with the Higher Education Academy. Those with some years of teaching in HE can seek this professional recognition on the basis of their experience. The HEA also has arrangements with some professional bodies to recognise their qualifications for Fellowship, eg: the Teacher standard of the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

National Teaching Fellowship Scheme

The NTFS is managed by the Higher Education Academy and awards up to 55 Fellowships each year. The aim of the scheme is to raise the profile of learning and teaching; recognise and celebrate individuals and provide a national focus for institutional teaching and learning excellence schemes.

The call for nominations for the NTFS Individual Awards 2012 is expected in January 2012 and further details will be available in due course.
