Current Projects for 2011-12
EDQ is involved in a number of projects to improve the student and staff experience of higher education at Bournemouth University. Key projects for 2011-12 are listed below. For more information, please contact EDQ.
Database/Unit-E
During October 2011, the EDQ database of programme approval and external examiner information will migrate over to Unit-E. This will enable a much broader volume of electronic data about programmes to be held within the central student records system and be available to Schools.
Unit Feedback and Student Experience Survey
EDQ will continue to be involved as part of the Student Voice Steering Group to consider approaches to the collection and use of feedback from students on their experience at BU.
Exam Board Review
EDQ continues to be involved with the development of new approaches to support Assessment Board administration and activity.
Key Information Set (KIS)/Wider Information Set
EDQ is contributing to preparations for the new public information requirements outlined by HEFCE.
Common Academic Structure (CAS)
EDQ is currently contributing to preparations to introduce a common academic structure within the University for 2012.
Academic Procedures / Academic Policies and Regulations
EDQ will continue to review the format and presentation of the various Policies, Regulations, Procedures and Codes of Practice produced for staff and students, including those pertaining to the Graduate School, with a view to providing more consistent, streamlined and helpful guidance for 2012.
Review of External Examiners Policies and Procedures
EDQ will be reviewing the University's current arrangements for external examiners following the publication of the new QAA Quality Code section in November 2011.
Review of Admissions Policies and Procedures
EDQ is working alongside the Head of Admissions to review and streamline Admissions Policies, Regulations and Procedures.
Educational Excellence staff development programme
EDQ is working with Organisational and Staff Development to deliver a programme of support and events aimed at staff pursuing educational development career routes.
Audit of ARFMs and review of processes and School scrutiny
EDQ will be undertaking a review of the current annual monitoring procedure, including the School scrutiny process to enhance the arrangements for the forthcoming year. This process will also align with the annual audit of current ARFMs.
Review of Partner Institution Review Methodology
In light of completion of the first cycle of Partner Institution Reviews, EDQ has reviewed the process, focusing on opportunities to enhance the process for the forthcoming cycle scheduled to re-commence during 2012-13.
Professional, Regulatory and Statutory Bodies
EDQ is currently developing a centralised approach to streamlining and updating PSRB activity within the University.
