Marketing & Communications (M&C)
The Marketing & Communications Directorate is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of the following areas at BU:
The Interim Director of M&C is Ann Fernandez (afernandez@bournemouth.ac.uk). The Operations Team (Fiona Francis and Natalie Woodward) can direct your enquiry to the appropriate person (mcops@bournemouth.ac.uk). CommunicationsThe Communications Team acts as ‘brand champion’ and delivers marketing and corporate communications (on- and off-line) in accordance with our brand values and messages. It incorporates in-house design, new media (including web) and editorial functions, and works with external suppliers as appropriate to fulfil client needs. The team also covers PR, including media relations (as part of a proactive reputation-building plan, as well as covering the 'crisis management' end of the spectrum), relationship-building with our wider publics (including elements of community relations), corporate profile raising activity (via events, publications etc) and internal communications via such vehicles as the InsideBU monthly newsletter, the staff portal and more.
International Marketing & Student RecruitmentThe International Marketing & Student Recruitment is comprised of two teams.
UK Marketing & Student RecruitmentLed by the Head of UK Marketing and Student Recruitment, the Marketing team plays a key role in developing and delivering various aspects of our marketing strategy. It includes a small market research function, marketing product (eg undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research, foundation degree), and functional marketing specialists (relationship marketing, b2b marketing and project specialists). The Marketing team has responsibility for managing BU’s prospective student enquiry service, through the dedicated ‘askBU’ enquiry service team. It also includes visiting HE fairs, Open Days, Prospectuses, on and off-campus school/college visits and relationship building with careers advisors to potential students and their influencers including ensuring fair access to all potential students via the Aimhigher team. The department has recently expanded to include managing Events & Conferences for BU. Each Academic School has a named marketing account team to support their needs, recruitment and objectives within the corporate Marketing team. The team also recruits four placement students each year who work within the outreach and student recruitment area.
