Streets of Bournemouth

Themes

The project will be divided into ten main themes, with the emphasis on how Bournemouth has changed during the past two hundred years. It will include images, descriptions and recollections from residents, many of which have not previously been publicly available. The archive will also include images of present-day Bournemouth.

The themes are:

• Introduction
• Health
• Tourism and the Town
• Leisure
• Bournemouth’s People, including History and Heritage, Society, Rich and Poor, Politics and Local Government, Town Communities
• Transport
• Commerce and Industry
• Education
• War and Defence
• Bournemouth’s Buildings

There are many links between the themes and one of the key features of the database will be to reflect these and allow the contributions to the wiki-based component of the project to be cross-referenced by contributors.
