The university is committed to inspiring, supervising and mentoring postgraduate researchers. This commitment extends to providing 100 doctoral opportunities to outstanding candidates each year for the next five years. Whilst you can start a PhDs with us at any time, typically this occurs in September and January when induction events are planned for all new entrants.
We welcome applications for projects linked to any of our research areas listed below (although we routinely accept applications on areas not listed and can match you with potential supervisors). We actively encourage you to discuss your research idea with us before you submit an application.

Funding for PhD study
Bournemouth University provides a range of fully-funded and match-funded PhD Studentships to support outstanding candidates with living costs, PhD fees and conference attendance during their study.
The School is offering a number of competitive, fully-funded PhD Studentships for projects starting in September 2014.
Vice Chancellor Scholarships offer a fee waiver and are designed to appeal specifically to those with an industry, business or government sponsorship.
Our PhD supervisory team can also help PhD researchers to identify additional funding opportunities and sources if needed.
