We undertake high-quality teaching, research and enterprise activity in a broad range of fields and disciplines including sport, social sustainability and social change, consumer behaviour and, the critical study of events.
We produce innovative high-quality research which has application in the real world and that impacts on policy, performance, participation, practice, and pressing social problems. We work closely with a range of research partners, funders, governments, and the general public, undertaking research locally, nationally and internationally. Staff in the Department publish widely in high-quality journals and widely-respected books, have developed an international reputation in a number of fields, and continue to shape sport and event research.

A number of professional bodies have accredited courses in our undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio. This includes accreditation from the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity and the Institute of Data Marketing for our BSc (Hons) Sports Management degree, and Association for Project Management accreditation for our BSc Events Management and Events Marketing courses. In addition, our Events Management course is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Data & Marketing, while MSc Sport Management is accredited by the Club Managers Association of Europe.
