Social and Scientific Uncertainties in Environmental Law

9–11 September

European Environmental Law Forum Annual Conference 2020

Bournemouth University’s Department of Life & Environmental Sciences is very pleased to host the eighth EELF Annual Conference with the theme of Social and Scientific Uncertainties in Environmental Law.

This three-day conference is based at the university’s campus in the coastal town of Bournemouth, which is surrounded by natural beauty spots such as Poole Harbour, the New Forest and the Jurassic Coast.

Environmental law provides the legislation which protects the environment. However, with the ever-changing environmental threats such as climate change, biodiversity loss and emerging pollutants, scientific knowledge needs constant research into their complex causes, consequences and ultimately, solutions.

This conference will bring together practitioners and researchers from different fields so that we can discuss topics such as implications of environmental laws for society and emerging areas for regulation, as well as the failures and success of current laws and policies.
