Prof Valerie Fogleman
Prof Valerie Fogleman is an environmental law academic at Cardiff University. She is listed as a leading environmental lawyer in Chambers & Partners legal directory, the Legal 500, Legal Experts, The International Who's Who of Environment Lawyers and Guide to the World's Leading Environment Lawyers. Valerie has written three books and over 200 articles on environmental and insurance law and is a well-known speaker at conferences on those topics.
Professor Carolyn Roberts
Professor Carolyn Roberts was the first Frank Jackson Professor of the Environment at Gresham College from 2014-2018. She is a water and environment consultant, having undertaken innovative work in environmental science, management and technology for over 30 years.
Dr Tiina Paloniitty née Korvela
Dr Tiina Paloniitty née Korvela is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki. She is also a member of the IUCN Academy of environmental law.
Dr Niina Kotamäki
Dr Niina Kotamäki is a researcher in the Freshwater Centre at the Finnish Environment Institute.
Dr Angus Nurse
Dr Angus Nurse is an Associate Prof in Criminology and Sociology at Middlesex University who has written work on the topic of environmental criminology.
Professor Dr Ludwig Krämer
Professor Dr Ludwig Krämer was head of the Legal Unit of DG Environment, European Commission between 1987 and 1994, and then moved to head the Waste Management Unit. In 2001 Dr Kramer became head of the unit on Environmental Governance, retiring from the Commission 2004. He is currently a Senior Counsel to ClientEarth and a board member of the Advisory Board of Justice and Environment. He has written extensively in the field of environmental law, authoring some 20 books and handbooks and around 150 articles on EC environmental law. As well as being Visiting Professor at University College London, Ludwig is a Professor in European and German environmental law at the University of Bremen.
Professor Aðalheiður Jóhannsdóttir
Professor Aðalheiður Jóhannsdóttir graduated as a qualified lawyer in 1991 after five years of studies. She has been a member of the Faculty of Law at University of Iceland since 1996, firstly as a part time lecturer, then as University Adjunct, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and since May 2009 a full-time Professor of Law.
Professor Aðalheiður Jóhannsdóttir specialises in environmental law with an emphasis on international law, international biodiversity law and environmental law methodology. She has several international publications in international environmental law and EU environmental law as well as publications in Icelandic, Swedish and Danish. In addition, she has substantial administrative experience and has been Vice Dean of Faculty and Dean as well as being a Supreme Court Judge as hoc in several cases.
Dr Lalanath de Silva
Dr Lalanath de Silva is the Head of Green Climate Fund's Independent Redress Mechanism. He has extensive experience in legal affairs, with more than 30 years of service as a practicing lawyer. In Sri Lanka, he supported the Ministry of Environment as a legal consultant, and was a member of his country's Law Commission. Lalanath previously worked at the Environmental Claims Unit of the UN Compensation Commission in Geneva, and served as Director of the Environmental Democracy Practice at the World Resources Institute (WRI) in Washington DC. As a member of the Compliance Review Panel of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), he led the review of multiple compliance cases. Lalanath has a PhD from the University of Sydney, a Master of Laws from the University of Washington, and graduated from the Sri Lanka Law College as an Attorney-at-Law.
