Assessing Undergraduate Research Assistants’ Learning through Participatory Methods

This project by Dr Jacqueline Priego, known as AURAL, aims to explore the learning gains of students enrolled in BU’s Undergraduate Research Assistantship programme, thereby contributing to a growing literature on ‘students as researchers’. It considers ‘students as partners’ through a participatory monitoring and evaluation process.

It will involve a cohort of undergraduate researchers in co-producing the research lines of enquiry (their learning goals) and in the elaboration of reflective diaries of their research experiences. A series of impact-driven outcomes will be generated, ranging from a shareable dataset and a journal article to practical recommendations that will enhance the learning experience of undergraduate researchers in the future.
