Sue Green is a Professor and Head of the Department of Nursing Science. A Registered Nurse with clinical experience in acute and continuing care environments, Sue held academic posts at Leeds, Kingston, Hull and Southampton Universities before moving to Bournemouth University in 2018.

Committed to the development of clinical academic roles for nurses, Sue held funded clinical academic posts, combining research and clinical roles from 2009 to 2018. Sue continued to work clinically as a Nutrition Nurse seconded to Solent NHS Trust until 2022.

Extensive experience of teaching and learning in higher education, including post-graduate and undergraduate programme leadership, Sue enjoys working with students undertaking all levels of study. Enquiries from potential PhD students are welcome.

One of a small number of Registered Nurses globally who is also a Registered Nutritionist, Sue’s research outputs, invited speaker activities and professional leadership activities are focussed on aspects of clinical nutrition, particularly nutritional care by nurses. She has a long-standing interest in the process of nutritional screening and its effect on nutritional care.

Sue received the award of Nutrition Nurse of the Year at the British Journal of Nursing Awards 2021 in recognition of her contribution to nutrition nursing.
