What happens at a BU Summer Break?

BU Summer Breaks are a great opportunity to get an insight into university life while at the same time developing your hidden talents and skills, equipping you with the information, knowledge and understanding to make an application to higher education in the coming years.

These events are primarily targeted at students from Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire, so you should email us if you are interested in attending but not from one of these areas. We only have a limited number of spaces at each event, so it’s important to apply as early possible. We will look at a variety of information to prioritise applications from those in areas where a lower number of people typically go to uni or higher education. We will not be able to offer places to students who have previously attended a BU Summer Break.

What else can I expect?

Bournemouth is well known for its fun-loving students. We want you to experience that side of student life too so there will be social activities every evening, including a beach barbeque and a party in the Students’ Union and much more. You will stay in your own room in a single-sex flat in the Student Accommodation based on BU’s Lansdowne Campus.

You will meet lots of new people at a BU Summer Break, try out different activities and discover whether university is for you.

So what do I need to know?

BU Summer Breaks are completely free – your accommodation, food and all activities are all included. You can choose up to three subject areas that you want to find out more about. We’ll do our best to make sure you can have your first and second choice wherever possible. Current BU students will be with you every step of the way to make sure you get the full uni experience and see everything BU has to offer!
