Our academics and staff are not only engaged in research that can change the world around them. They also work with businesses in their specialist areas to develop and co-create ideas between the university, our students, and industry.

It’s an approach, complemented by our infrastructure and facilities, that means we can advise and collaborate with businesses with authority – including drawing on historical trends to make industry projections. And we do this across a broad spectrum of sectors – from media to museums, research partners to retail, and beyond.

A major part of this involves safeguarding against risk, for both businesses and individuals. Our recent work with Trading Standards teams provides a notable example. By co-ordinating research that protects vulnerable people from falling foul of financial scamming, we’ve published a Financial Scamming Guide to help keep people safe.

Our knowledge exchange strategy includes a commitment to creating a prosperous, economically dynamic and sustainable regional economy. Through strategic collaborations, facilitating funding opportunities, increasing access to research and providing professional development training, we aim to help generate growth across the Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership (DLEP) region.
