The application deadline for BU’s annual undergraduate research conference – Showcasing Undergraduate Research Excellence (SURE) – has been extended to 20 January 2019.
Our annual undergraduate conference – Showcasing Undergraduate Research Excellence (SURE) – is designed to give our students the chance to share their research and have their first taste of an academic conference. SURE will return on 20 March 2019.
As well as giving students a supportive platform to showcase the quality work they do, it gives others at BU an insight into the excellent research undertaken by our undergraduates. Not only is it a unique opportunity to further develop skills, prizes will also be available which include a fully-funded Master’s course at BU for the best overall contributor. Other prizes include Amazon vouchers and funding towards attending a national academic conference.
All undergraduate students at BU are eligible to apply, as are recent graduates. Examples of research could be anything from preparing for your dissertation or an essay; work carried out during your placement year or volunteering or work with academic societies. The key criteria is to be able to evidence your own critical thinking through your work.
How to apply
To apply to present at SURE 2019, you’ll need to submit an application form, which can be found on the SURE 2019 page.
You are also encouraged to submit your abstract to the national version of SURE – the British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR) – being held at the University of South Wales, 15-16 April 2019. Bournemouth University is offering funding support for a minimum of one student per faculty to participate in BCUR.
The extended deadline for submitting abstracts for both SURE and BCUR is 20 January 2019.
