As a Fairtrade university, BU will be supporting Fairtrade Fortnight from Monday 25 February to Sunday 10 March.
For two weeks each year, thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to celebrate the people who grow our food, people who live in some of the poorest countries in the world and who are often exploited and badly paid. This year Fairtrade Fortnight is focusing on the people – in particular the women – who grow the cocoa in the chocolate we love so much.
There are several ways you can get involved with Fairtrade Fortnight from organising a fundraising event to taking part in one of Fairtrade's current campaigns - take a look at the website to find out how you can get involved. SUBU will also be supporting Ethical Trade Fortnight and running activities on campus - find out more on the SUBU website.
Fairtrade Fortnight is a great time of year to celebrate Fairtrade achievements and our continued commitment to making trade fair. This year’s theme also aligns with several of the UN Sustainable Development Goals that BU is committed to supporting. These include goal one, zero poverty; goal five, gender equality and goal eight, decent work and economic growth.
