BU students’ global talent was once again celebrated by staff, family, friends and employers at our annual Global Talent Programme awards night on Wednesday 15 May.
Hosted by our Global Talent Programme (GTP) team, over 100 students received awards from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Vinney, to mark their successful completion of the 2018/19 programme, with a further six awards presented to students for their outstanding contributions to the programme.
This year over 3,024 extra-curricular activities were completed by students ranging from community work, volunteering, enterprise competitions, virtual games, running a club or society and embarking on overseas adventures with projects such as the Global Festival of Learning in Vietnam.
Keynote speaker and BU graduate Kevin Hough congratulated the students on their achievements and spoke about the importance of a global heart-set, authenticity and personal branding when pursuing a global career, saying: This is a great programme! Make sure you put it on your CV – and not just the award but all of the skills you have gained”.
First year BA (Hons) Events Management student and recipient of an outstanding achievement award, Samantha shared: "The Global Talent Programme has encouraged me to fully immerse myself within university life and has provided me with the confidence that I now have acquired the global skills that many businesses are looking for. As a first year, the Global Talent Programme has also provided me with an additional aspect to my CV that will stand out when applying for my placement year in future."
