Bournemouth University's Professor Dimitrios Buhalis has been featured in a number of articles and appeared on TV talking about the impact of coronavirus on tourism.
Professor Buhalis has been giving his expert opinion on ways that the tourism industry might start to reopen as Covid-19 restrictions relax across the world. This includes strict safety protocols, protective equipment, digital tools, social distancing measures, service patterns and alert systems that will enable tourism destinations to welcome travelers safely.
Professor Buhalis believes that holiday makers might start to see one-way streets and similar measures to those used in supermarkets, in order to create safe flow patterns. He has emphasised the need for personal, team and societal responsibility for all people in the tourism and travel ecosystem.
Professor Buhalis has appeared on several Greek TV channels including ERT3 News, ANT1 News and Special Reports on ANT1 TV to discuss the global tourism, travel and transport industries recovery in light of the global pandemic. He has also written for a number of news outlets including Inside Story, Travel Daily News and LIFO.
As well as Greek media, Professor Buhalis has also shared his expertise on the impact of Covid-19 on the global tourism industry. He has given interviews for numerous international media since the outbreak of the pandemic, including Le Monde in France, UrduPoint News and Sputnik in Russia, El Mercurio in Chile, NV Magazine in Ukraine and Vietnam Net Global.
