With BU's laptop loans scheme, you can borrow a MacBook Air for up to 4 hours, for free, simply by scanning your BU student ID card.
Please only use this service if you do not have the resources to study at home, and adhere to the safety measures in place on campus, including face coverings and keeping distant from other campus users. Please note, campus attendance should be for individual study only.
All laptops have been charged before use, so you won’t need to find a charging point or plug socket to use them. You’ll simply need to log on to the BU-Student wireless network with your usual BU login details.

Safe use of laptops
Cleaning stations have been set up at each location, so please make sure to wipe down the equipment before and after each use. You can find futher information about what you need to do to keep yourself and others safe on our coronavirus webpages.
How to borrow a laptop
You will need to register for the service before you can borrow a laptop for the first time. To do this, you will need your student ID card to complete the instructions on the terminal screen at your Laptop Loan Scheme pick-up location. Once you’ve authenticated and agreed to the terms and conditions, scan your student card on the reader of an available locker to open the door and borrow a laptop. If you are a new student, and have not yet collected your student ID card, you can find out where to collect it on our website.
When returning the laptop to the locker please make sure to wipe the device down at a cleaning station and plug the laptop into a power adaptor so it can charge for the next user.
