On Thursday 3 March, we celebrate University Mental Health Day (UMHD). Throughout the week, we are focusing on our mental health, with events and activities taking place. Here are some of the things to look out for:
Take steps to improve your mental health with free sports sessions run in partnership with The Dorset Mental Health Forum. Weekly sessions take place Monday to Wednesday and include football, gym, table tennis and more. All students, staff and the local community are welcome, and no booking or previous experience is required – simply meet us at the SportBU reception.
All group fitness classes are free on Thursday, 3 March, although we recommend that you book your place in advance.
You can also find lots more advice and support on the SportBU wellbeing hub, including tips around mood-boosting food.
Faith & Reflection:
Located on the first floor of Talbot House, our Faith & Reflection centre is open between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday, offering a space to reflect, pray or simply be. There is also a space for students and staff to contemplate and pray on Lansdowne Campus, in Bournemouth Gateway Building, Room 401.
The team provides a variety of events and activities throughout the year where all staff and students are welcome, including:
- Free vegan soup and soul care on Mondays
- Opportunities to pop in for a cup of tea or piece of cake and chat
- Events for international students, Jewish students and for us all to explore reflective writing.
You can find further information about these events and more on the Faith & Reflection web page.
