The scheme is designed to help you fund a work placement or voluntary traineeship (including an internship, volunteer opportunity or work experience related to your BU degree) in the European Economic Area (EEA).
Funding through the Erasmus+ work mobility scheme will end on 31 May 2023, so the latest possible start date that you can undertake your experience in Europe is 1 April 2023.
To gain funding through the Erasmus+ work mobility scheme, you must:
- Be enrolled as a BU student for the whole duration of the traineeship
- Have secured a traineeship in European Economic Areas (EEA) (excluding Switzerland), and it can be your home country if you are an EU citizen
- Have secured a traineeship that will last for a minimum of 60 days, with a start date no later than 1 April 2023
- Complete the funding paperwork before you travel and before you start work.
The Funding process
Contact the Global Engagement Team or complete the eligibility survey as soon as you know you’ll be undertaking work overseas in the EEA. The team will be able to advise you on next steps and support you through the process. It can take a few days to sort out the paperwork so we encourage to contact us as soon as possible and ideally one month in advance.
Finding and funding work abroad
The Global Engagement Team can also offer guidance on how to start your overseas job search. Either contact the team or book onto the finding and funding Work Overseas presentation at 2pm on Tuesday 29 March in SC504.
