The Society for Cognitive Studies of the Moving Image (SCSMI) is proud to present its first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Roundtable at this year’s conference.
Organised by the SCSMI DEI Committee, the event will feature esteemed media scholars Dr. Meghan Sanders, Prof. Edward Schiappa, and Prof. Jens Eder, discussing research on stereotypes, prejudice, stigma and social impact in relation to media audiences.
This event is intended to kickstart an initiative that expands research on DEI issues through forging interdisciplinary connections between cognitive film studies and other fields, such as media and communication studies, social psychology and cultural studies.
The SCSMI DEI Roundtable took place on Friday, 3rd June at Valencia Polytechnic University in Gandia. Watch it below:
This event was chaired by Catalin Brylla, CESJ member and member of the SCSMI DEI Committee, and co-chaired by Margrethe Bruun Vaage (University of Kent).
