Skills masterclasses

Skills masterclasses

A core element of our Skills Development programme are the Skills masterclasses that run throughout the academic year.

These masterclasses are co-delivered by the CareersBU team, BU academics and industry representatives. This fusion of academia and industry gives you a unique insight into different industry sectors and the skills employers like these are looking for in today’s graduates.

By coming along to a Skills masterclass you will be developing your softer more transferrable skills that can be applied to any job that you decide to apply for whether part-time, placement, internships or graduate roles.

We have had over 50 different companies and industries represented on the programme in the past including big global brands like Microsoft, IBM, Google, TikTok, Facebook and British Airways.

As well as the larger well-known companies, we also have a range of smaller to medium size companies who deliver our masterclasses as well as others who have set up their own businesses and can give insights into how you might develop a business idea and the support available in the local area.

SDP UN Sustainable Development Goals Award

Sustainability and Social Responsibility is a very important part of what we offer on the programme and is woven into the Skills masterclasses that we deliver and the resources we promote to you.

All of our Skills masterclasses are aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and we have recently been awarded the Excellence for Education in Sustainable Development Award from BU for our Sustainable Project Lab that we run every year.
