Welcome to University Music which offers a range of musical opportunities to students and staff of Bournemouth University and Arts University Bournemouth as well as to members of the local community.
Whilst Covid-19 restrictions will inevitably impact on some of our activities for the time being, we hope to gradually re-introduce a wide range of music making and to take the opportunity to explore new and exciting directions. For the time being:
- There will be a series of virtual concerts on Fridays, given by staff and students. As the term progresses, it is hoped that it will be possible for a small audience to be present and some performances may take place out of doors giving greater scope for participation and attendance. Please check back on the Concerts and recitals page for further details.
- Music lessons and some ensembles will be offered via Zoom. It is hoped that smaller groups will be able to play together in the Student Hall, subject to the social distancing requirements covering musical activities. Please see the Instrumental ensembles or Choirs sections for further details.
- Regrettably, for the time being, practice rooms will only be available for music scholars and those taking lessons with a University Music tutor. Access to the rooms will need to be strictly monitored to help keep everyone safe and to ensure that we comply with social distancing rules. You will be asked to sign an agreement before using the facilities and adhere strictly to the rules regarding occupancy and hygiene protocols.
How to contact us
At present, please contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org and not through any social media channels. This will allow us to monitor activities and participants effectively so that everyone is kept as safe as possible whilst using the music facilities.
