It’s been a busy couple of months in the Global Engagement Hub! Here are a few highlights…

Global Engagement Plan

The development of the Global Engagement Plan is in full swing with the second Global BUzz workshop, of the virtual kind, just coming to a close. It has stimulated some really interesting conversations and feedback which will help to shape a GlobalBU so a big thank you to all who have contributed. The third Global BUzz workshop is scheduled for May and the final version of the GE plan will be completed in the next couple of months, so watch this space for updates.

Higher Education Academy

We were successful in our two bids to the Higher Education Academy’s Strategic Enhancement Programme which focuses on internationalising our curriculum and learning from our international staff.

The first round of engagement with staff kicked off with workshops with Faculties and international staff. It was fantastic to hear lots of really great ideas and enthusiasm for the agenda.

Activities abroad

I participated in a British Council/International Unit H.E. delegation to Indonesia in early March. We were represented alongside 15 HEIs and senior officials from the International Unit. The purpose of the delegation was to strengthen and broaden UK HE links with Indonesia. The delegation took place in three cities and included ministerial level meetings and a conference to identify ways that universities, industry and government can collaborate to promote innovative research and productive interactions. As one of the top ten recruiters from Indonesia in the sector, this was an important step in generating visibility in the largest ASEAN economy.

A few weeks ago, I also visited UNIMAS, USIM and Sunway Universities in Malaysia - lots of great opportunities for collaboration and future working.
