Our fully equipped and modern Research Laboratory is used by our undergraduate and postgraduate hospitality students to support their food related learning.
Staffed by a professional chef demonstrator and resource assistant, the lab hosts individual work stations designed to enable all food industry related processes and activities to be carried out. In addition, all sessions within the lab can be recorded for later analysis. We also have a fully equipped teaching kitchen support annex.
The lab can be used for food product testing and launches of food innovations, psychological studies, specific sensory and ability awareness training, film projects and research.
The facility is often used by industry partners, the local community, Students' Union at Bournemouth University and various student clubs as well as other BU departments.
The Food Management Studio can be a place of fun and has been used for team building activities for example Ready, Steady, Cook and Chocolate making!
